- Fred Perry was born on May 18, 1909 in Stockport, Cheshire, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Le plombier amoureux (1932), Wimbledon (1929) and The French (1982). He was married to Barbara Riese, Lorraine Walsh, Sandra Breaux and Helen Vinson. He died on February 2, 1995 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

- Table tennis and lawn tennis player. Won several lawn tennis championships, 1931-1936. Considered by many to be England's greatest tennis player.
- For many years he was known as the last British man to win Wimbledon (in 1936). Andrew Murray won in 2013 (after a gap of 77 years) and then again in 2016.
- A statue of Perry was unveiled at Wimbledon in 1984.
