Biography

Nick Perito was born on April 7, 1924 in Denver, Colorado, USA. He was a composer, known for The Big Show (1980), Perry Como's Christmas in New York (1983) and Perry Como's Christmas in the Holy Land (1980). He was married to Judy Perito. He died on August 3, 2005 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Children: daughter Jennie; sons Danny and Terry.

Studied piano, conducting and orchestration at the famed Julliard School of music.

Was nominated for Emmys dozens of times mostly for his work on the Perry Como Show.

He got his start playing accordion at parties and restaurants. During WWII, he was a pianist and arranger for the Army band.

Got his big break in show biz when Dorothy Dandridge hired him to be her arranger, the two remained close until her death in 1965.
