Richard C. Pepperman (ca. 1944-1993) was credited during season 3 of Sesame Street as "Muppet associate director," and later during season 6 among the videotape editors.
A native of Philadelphia, Pepperman first worked as a technician for that city's Channel 17, then as a cameraman for The Merv Griffin Show and The David Frost Show in New York. After his Sesame Street work, he directed soap operas including The Edge of Night (1978-84), Guiding Light (1984-87), As the World Turns (1984-86), and Search for Tomorrow. He earned five Emmy nominations for his work (three for The Edge of Night, and two as part of the directorial team for As the World Turns along with Bob Schwarz).
Pepperman later became a communications professor at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1991, Professor Pepperman and his television students were honored with the National School Public Relations Award of Merit for producing a documentary about Ku Klux Klan activities in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
