James Paris(1921-1982)

James Paris was a Greek film producer known for revitalizing the Greek film industry in the late 1950s and 1960s. He studied at the Agricultural School of Thessaloniki and the University of Beirut before emigrating to the United States in 1948, where he trained at the 20th Century Fox Film School, became an American citizen, and worked as director of advertising at United Artists. After gaining experience as a production manager at 20th Century Fox, he returned to Greece and produced 54 films over roughly a decade, many achieving box office success and earning accolades at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, including five Best Film Awards. His debut production was Etairia thavmaton (1962) directed by Stefanos Stratigos. Paris was influential in shaping the concept of "overproduction" in Greek cinema and remained a central figure in the industry until his death in 1982 at age 61.
