  • Aleksandr Pankratov was born on September 4, 1946 in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR, USSR [now Kharkiv, Ukraine]. He was a director and actor, known for Portret zheny khudozhnika (1982), Zavtra (1991) and Prodelki v starinnom dukhe (1986). He died on November 15, 2024 in Moscow, Russia.

  • Aleksandr Pankratov was a Soviet and Russian film director and screenwriter.
  • In 1968 he graduated from the cinematography department of VGIK (workshop of Leonid Kosmatov ) and until 1974 he worked as a cameraman for documentary television films (With a song through life and others), until he entered the directing department of VGIK in the workshop of Igor Talankin.
  • As a result of the economic upheavals (Perestroika) of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Pankratov remained outside the profession for several years, worked as a driver, sold boots, beer, cookies and tried to get into business.
  • Based on his own script, he made the film "The Emigrant, or the Beard with Glasses and the Warthog" (2001), and based on his story "Hippie Journey to the People's Republic of China" - the film " Hitchhiking " (2009).
  • He was Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 1997.
