Biography

His life changed drastically when he met Felix de Rooy in 1976 at the age of 28, with whom he also started a relationship shortly thereafter. In 1982, they went to New York University together, where De Palm studied educational theatre and De Rooy film directing. Here, he completed his studies with a master's degree.

On May 3, 2013, Norman de Palm received the prestigious Cola Debrot Prize for his contribution to theater culture. That appreciation increased particularly when he founded La Tentashon, which subsequently produced a new generation of theater makers, including young people who managed to continue their studies at various theater schools.

From a young age, he was fascinated by fairy tales, sagas, myths, and legends, up to and including the Bible stories, especially from the Old Testament with the struggle between good and evil and a God who was not to be trifled with.

De Palm has written extensively for both the Dutch and Curaçaoan Cosmic, as well as for other directors such as John Leerdam.

At the age of eighteen, he left for Nijmegen to study clinical psychology, which he successfully completed. He returned and worked as a clinical psychologist at Klínika Capriles in Curaçao. In his spare time, he was an actor. The theater served as an outlet for him, as his profession weighed heavily on him and he carried the problems of his work with him at home as well.
