Biography

David Palffy is a film and television actor of Welsh - Hungarian descent. He attended Harvard and the University of Calgary studying law (LLB) degree. Palffy left law to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England after which he appeared in a number of notable theatrical productions such as Midsummer Nights Dream as Oberon, Richard III, Strindberg's Miss Julie, and David Mamet's Speed The Plow.

Palffy lived on a Dutch barge while living in London until his appearance in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987). Shortly afterwards, he was cast as the lead in the acclaimed Dutch War series De zomer van '45 (1991) followed by appearances with The National Theatre Company. On his return to Canada and the US, he was cast in numerous film and television productions while working as a writer and director and founder of The Yaletown Actors Lab.

Among his numerous credits, he played the most notorious Goa'Iliad villains Sokar and Anubis in Stargate SG-1 (1997).

He was the writer, producer and directer of the film Deuteronomy in 2023

He was married to actress, Erica Durance, who was the star of the hit series Saving Hope (2012). They were divorced in 2023.

Played two different recurring Goa'uld characters, on Stargate SG-1 (1997), who were both extremely powerful and were considered far worse than the majority of their race: "Sokar" in the Season Three episodes, Jolinar's Memories (1999) and The Devil You Know (1999), and "Anubis" during Seasons Five, Six and Seven.

His brother, Jeff Palffy, is a well-known talent/model agent, formerly for Ford Models, now with PMG Management in Vancouver, and was the first to discover Erica Durance (Smallville (2001)), Evangeline Lilly (Lost (2004)), Sarah Mutch (Guess ads with Paris Hilton) and numerous others...

His now ex-wife Erica Durance gave birth to their son, Lochlan William Pallfy, on February 10, 2015.

David has three sons, Laszlo David Palffy from previous marriage born March 29, 1999 and two sons with his now ex-wife Erica Durance Lochlan William Palffy (born February 10, 2015) and Liam Jeffrey Palffy (born December 7, 2016).
