Jackie Oudney

Born and raised in Dundee, Scotland by working class parents. Jackie studied theatre at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Camera at the National Film & Television School in London. She honed her skills as a highly successful commercials director, directing over 100 commercials worldwide, winning several international awards including a Silver Lion at Cannes. During these two decades she also directed the micro-budget feature, ‘French Film’ starring Hugh Bonneville and Anne-Marie Duff which was recognised for its witty direction and ambition, picking up two major awards at the Monte-Carlo Film Festival for Best Actor and Best Screenplay. Described by Philip French in The Observer as an "immensely likeable debut" that is "clever, funny, and emotionally truthful". In addition, her two short films, ‘Station and ‘Vagabond Shoes’ with its powerful performance by Iain Glen have won a clutch of awards including the Kodak /BAFTA Short Film Showcase and two Scottish BAFTA nominations. In 2025/6, Jackie's third short, 'What I Am': A drama that explores both class and gender, won 7 awards, including Gold for Best International Short Film at the Sharks Awards, London, and Silver at the Telly Awards, New York. As a woman from a working-class background, Jackie is a passionate believer in the power of storytelling to shape and challenge the narratives in society, and the importance of nurturing filmmakers from diverse backgrounds, to ensure we have fair and authentic representation behind the camera.
