Biography

Dyana Ortelli was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She is an actress, known for Coco (2017), American Me (1992) and La Bamba (1987).

Frustrated by the lack of positive roles for Latino actors in Hollywood, she began doing stand-up comedy in clubs throughout the Los Angeles area. Her East L.A. "cholita" character, Ramona from Pomona, is now a favorite with Latino audiences everywhere. Ortelli, as she is known to her friends, has performed at The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Ice House & The Laugh Factory, among many other comedy clubs. She is also a member of 'The Hot & Spicy Mamitas'. Comprised of five of the hottest Latina comediennes in the nation, the groundbreaking comedy group recently released their self-titled comedy CD.

She and 'Humberto Ortiz' appeared together in 'Marblehead Manor' (1987), 'Born in East L.A.' (1987), 'Dollman' (1991) and '¡Three Amigos!' (1986).

Currently reprising her role from "Lizzie McGuire" (2001) as Daniella Sanchez for the spin-off "Stevie Sanchez" (2005).

She is best known for her roles as Sandy Rodriguez in "Rocket Power", Sandy Alexander in "The Brothers Garcia", and Danielle Sanchez in "Lizzie McGuire".

I got tired of playing Mexican maids and prostitutes, so I changed my name to 'Dyana Ortelli' [Italian accent]. Now I play Italian Maids and prostitutes.
