Biography

She married Peter Oosthoek (1934–2015), with whom she had three children. The couple can be seen together in the film "Donna Donna".

Her career spanned more than five decades. From the poignant 'Van de koele meren des doods' (1982) to the thriller 'Amsterdamned' (1988) and the drama series 'Seinpost Den Haag' (2011), Oosthoek moved with ease between various genres.

In the last decade of her life, she helped document the oeuvre of her husband, Peter. She also contributed to an overview of Caesar and Cleo, the first television series ever broadcast in the Netherlands. The friendship with her co-star from that series, Jules Hamel, lasted until the end.

Good friend and director Marije Gubbels got to know her when Gubbels asked her to perform in a monologue by Arnon Grünberg, 'in which she played a mother in an inimitable way, waiting in vain for her son.' About their friendship, she writes: 'She was a beacon in my life and I had the greatest fun with her.'.

On stage, she met Peter Oosthoek, who would later become a well-known and acclaimed actor and director. The couple married. Life as an acting couple with young children was certainly not easy; being sick was not an option, because 'the acting' always went on.
