Jorge Olguín is a Chilean director, producer, and screenwriter. He is recognized as a pioneer of fantasy genre filmmaking in Chile. He graduated from the Film School of the University of Arts and Social Sciences (ARCIS).
He made his feature film debut in 2000, while still a film student, with *Ángel Negro* (*Angel Negro*), one of the first Chilean feature films dedicated to the horror genre. His second feature, *Sangre Eterna* (*Eternal Blood*, 2002), received international recognition for its visual effects and was screened at numerous film festivals.
Olguín continued working in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres with *Solos* (*Descendents*, 2008), a post-apocalyptic feature filmed in seven days using a consumer digital camera. In 2012, he directed *Caleuche: El Llamado del Mar* (*The Call of the Sea*), an international co-production with Miravista (Disney Brazil). In 2016, he directed *Gritos del Bosque* (*Whispers of the Forest*), the first Chilean feature film produced in 3D.
In 2019, he directed *La Casa* (*The House*), a supernatural horror film presented in real time. The film was selected for the Mar del Plata and Sitges film festivals and was internationally distributed by Epic Pictures.
In 2024, he released the science fiction drama *Análogos* (*Analogs*), which received awards at several international genre film festivals.
In 2026, *Kalkutun: Trial of the Witches* entered post-production. The historical folk-horror feature was also developed as a television miniseries. The project received production funding from the Chilean National Television Council (CNTV) and won two post-production awards at Ventana Sur 2025.
