- William O'Dwyer was born on July 11, 1890 in Bohola, County Mayo, Ireland. He is known for Daniel Boone, Trail Blazer (1956), Kefauver Investigation (1951) and What's My Line? (1950). He was married to Sloan Simpson and Catherine Lenihan. He died on November 24, 1964 in New York City, New York, USA.

- Beat Fiorello LaGuardia as mayor after losing to him in the previous election. Shortly after his reelection in 1949, O'Dwyer was confronted with a police scandal, and resigned on 1 September 1950, yet was never charged with a crime.
