- In one of the most iconic episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959), A Game of Pool (1961), ghostly pool player Fats Brown (Jonathan Winters) compares himself to two sports legends when telling his challenger Jesse Cardiff (Jack Klugman) what it means to be the greatest at anything. Tazio Nuvolari was one of the two real-life legends he referenced (being the name that when uttered causes heads to turn in the crowds at auto racing tracks), and the other was the bullfighter Manolete who had died after being gored many years before the classic episode aired, both being examples of people who faced death every day in their respective fields of endeavor.
- He won the 1933 24 Hours of Le Mans.
