Simone North is a Creative Producer, Writer and Director. Simone Created and Produced: "Fire" and "Fire 2", 2 x 13 hour Mini-Series for the Seven Network. "Fire" was a rating hit in Australia, scoring a 48 share on its final night. "Fire" was nominated for Most Outstanding Mini-Series and Most Popular Drama at the 1994 Logies. Next was "Adrenalin Junkies" aka "Medivac" for the Ten Network. "Adrenalin Junkies" ran for three seasons with a total of 48 hours. Following this was "The Day of the Roses" a four-hour mini-series, based on the events surrounding a true-life train crash in Sydney. "Roses" final night had a 54 share and went on to win three AFI/AACTA awards: Most Outstanding Miniseries, Direction and Screenwriting. It also won Guild awards for Screenwriting, Makeup, Cinematography and Music. It won a Logie for Best mini series and was nominated for Best Actress and Best Actor. Next was "The Love of Lionel's Life" starring Matt Day, Nadine Garner and Alex Dimitriades, a MOW for Ten. "Finding Hope", was a MOW pilot for Network Ten starring Rebecca Gibney which was shot in both the Queensland outback and Glasgow. Simone directed a music clip "Ballad of the One Eyed Man", for Mark Seymour, the writer, and singer of Hunters and Collectors. Next "Through My Eyes" a four-hour mini series on Lindy Chamberlain for the Seven Network which Simone created, researched, wrote, and produced in 2004. The mini-series starred Miranda Otto ('Lord of the Rings', 'The War of the Worlds'), Peter O'Brien ('Queer As Folk', 'The Bill') and John McArdle ('Mersey Beat', 'Prime Suspect 4'). "Through My Eyes" was reviewed (by the Sydney Daily Telegraph) as "the best Australian drama of the year, if not the decade"; the screenplay was short listed in the Queensland Premier's Literary Awards and was nominated as Most Outstanding Mini-Series at the 2005 Logies and won Best Actress for Miranda Otto. It also had three nominations at the 2005 AFI/AACTA awards, Best Mini Series, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. "I Am You" aka "In Her Skin" was Simone's first feature film. She wrote, directed and produced the film which starred Guy Pearce, Miranda Otto, Sam Neill, Justine Clarke and Rebecca Gibney. The film is the true story of the disappearance of 15 year old Rachel Barber. It won Best Actress for Ruth Bradley at the Milan Film Festival. Simone is a member of the Australia Writers Guild, the Australian Directors Guild, SPAA, AFI/AACTA and a professional member of Australian Society of Authors.
