Biography

Hermione Jane Norris is an English actress, writer, and camera and electrical department professional. She originates from Paddington, London, where she was raised as the second of four children by Michael Norris, a businessman, and Helen Latham Norris, a health visitor. After her parents' divorce at age four, Norris and her siblings spent formative years in Derbyshire and Berkshire, attending a Church of England school and later winning a scholarship to Elmhurst Ballet School in Surrey at age eleven. She pursued classical dance until eighteen and discovered her passion for drama through an after-school club, further refining her craft at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and through an exchange at the Moscow Art Theatre School, performing as Nina in The Seagull. Her stage debut in A Midsummer Night's Dream was followed by early guest appearances on television, including her professional debut in the BBC serial The Men's Room in 1991. After overcoming periods of uncertainty, Norris gained widespread recognition with her breakthrough role as Karen Marsden in the ITV comedy drama Cold Feet, earning a British Comedy Award nomination and remaining a central cast member for over twenty years.
