- Multi-talented composer/band leader/actor/pianist. His best-known compositions include "The Touch of Your Lips," "I Hadn't Anyone Till You," "Goodnight, Sweetheart," and his theme song, "The Very Thought of You."
- Noble's band specialised in ballads. His main vocalist was Al Bowlly, who was killed during a German air raid on London in April 1941.
- Inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1987.
- The Ray Noble Orchestra was based at one of New York's most prestigious venues, the Rainbow Room. It gained national exposure on the Burns & Allen and Charlie McCarthy radio shows. Noble had recording contracts with HMV, Brunswick, Columbia and Victor.
