Biography

Giorgos Nezos was a Greek theatre and film actor and writer. He studied acting at the Royal Theatre, as the National Theatre of Greece was then known, making his stage debut there in 1935. He subsequently worked with several prominent Greek theatre companies, including those of Manos Katrakis, Lambros Konstantaras and Tzavalas Karousos. Nezos made his film debut in Zero for Conduct (1949) and went on to appear in around 50 films, usually in supporting but distinctive roles, often portraying figures such as doctors and fathers. His collaboration with Finos Film began with I Am Innocent (1960) and continued through nine further productions until 1973. He also appeared in television series produced by ERT and YENED during the 1970s and 1980s. Alongside his acting career, Nezos was a prolific writer whose work included literary, historical and topographical books, some published under the pseudonym Giorgos Inachos.
