Biography

Fred Newman was born on May 6, 1952 in LaGrange, Georgia, USA. He is an actor and composer, known for Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Gremlins (1984) and Between the Lions (1999). He has been married to Katy Dobbs since 1985. They have two children.

Actor and sound effects artist for "Prairie Home Companion" on NPR; author of "Mouthsounds" (Workman Publishing, 2006).

Graduated from Harvard Business School.

Actor on Between the Lions (1999) (PBS), Lomax: The Hound of Music (2008) (PBS).

Has a son named Gil John and a daughter named Lila.

Grew up in Georgia.
