- Alwin Neuß was born on June 17, 1879 in Cologne, Germany. He was an actor and director, known for Der Weg der Tränen (1916), Streichhölzer, kauft Streichhölzer! (1916) and Ein Schrei in der Nacht (1915). He died on October 30, 1935 in Berlin, Germany.
- German character actor, an early impersonator of Sherlock Holmes on screen. His first films were for the Danish Nordisk film company in 1910, but several years later he joined Decla to essay a Holmes lookalike character named 'Tom Shark' in a series of potboilers.
- In the 20's his fame began to fade, he only appeared in few movies.
- He played the detective Tom Shark in several movies like "Das Licht im Dunkeln". With it he was in good company with some other popular detective figures of the 10's like Stuart Webbs and Joe Debbs.
