Biography

After initial training at London's Royal Academy of Music, Robert Neufeld studied at Sussex University, where he obtained a Master's Degree in music, and then at the National Film and Television School, from where he graduated as a composer in 1992. He has gone on to establish a highly successful career writing music for television and advertising productions. His many advertising credits include campaigns for a host of major corporations, and in 1994 he won the London International Advertising Award for 'Best Original Music' for Keith English's 'Great Frog' film.

Robert's documentary credits include the 13-part series Supernatural Science for the BBC and Discovery; Reptiles (Partridge Films for WNET New York); Beyond Human Senses (BBC) and Mars: Pioneering the Planet (BBC). Robert also scored The Search for PT109 for National Geographic in the USA and Failure is Not an Option. This 2-hour special for The History Channel, was made with the co-operation of NASA Mission Director Gene Kranz and his contemporaries, telling the both harrowing and uplifting tale of America's challenges and triumphs in the space race of the 1960's. Robert's score for this production, pushed the envelope of new sampling technology to create the feel of live performance, as the brief for the music was large-scale orchestral but without an orchestral budget.

His drama credits include Channel 4's Guardians, which was nominated for the Prix Italia, and the BAFTA-nominated short film One Night Stand. The feature film Creatures of Light, for which Robert's score was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, won the Edinburgh Film Festival's Chaplin Award. Robert also worked with 2-time Academy Award winning director Robert Amram on his documentary film, Clipperton: Isla de la pasión. Robert's most recent credits include the American version of The Monastery (originally a BBC production in the UK), Titanic's Final Moments (the first HD expedition to the Titanic Wreck) and the History Channel's flagship docu-drama Mayflower.
