American showbiz personality preeminently known as the creator of the "John Nesbitt's Passing Parade" radio show. The series, written and narrated by him, was adapted into a long running Oscar-winning series of MGM theatrical short subjects.

In both media, the series usually focused on strange-but-true historical events, both little-known and famous, as well as figures such as the Medicis and Nostradamus.

In 1940 Nesbitt purchased the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Ennis house located at 2607-2655 Glendowner Avenue in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles and commissioned Wright to build a north terrace pool and ground floor billiard room.
