Derren Nesbitt

  • He was scheduled for the lead in Villain (1971) which was due to be a B picture but Elizabeth Taylor was in London filming and Richard Burton wanted a film so it was given to him and made into an A feature.
  • Usually cast as smiling villains or characters who had secret agendas.
  • Son of comedian Harry Nesbitt.
  • During the 1960s, he worked opposite some major Hollywood names. Amongst them were Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra and George Peppard.
  • His actor idols are Marlon Brando and Ralph Richardson.
  • Nesbitt has related that, during the filming of Where Eagles Dare (1968), director Brian G. Hutton asked him to watch out for Richard Burton's drinking, because it was causing the film to run behind schedule. As Nesbitt was on a day rate, his motivation was to do just the opposite, and so encouraged Burton to join him for "a quick one" whenever possible.
  • He founded the British record and tape store Our Price with his brother in the 1970's.
  • Claimed to have been born at London's Finsbury Park Empire theatre.
  • Nephew of Max Nesbitt.
  • Father of Kerry Nesbitt.
  • One of the most memorable actors to play the role of Number Two in Patrick McGoohan's classic series The Prisoner.
