- Andrey Nekrasov was born in 1958 in Leningrad, RSFSR, USSR [now St. Petersburg, Russia]. He is a director and writer, known for Love Is as Strong as Death (1997), Disbelief (2004) and Lyubov i drugie koshmary (2001).
- Nekrasov was a long time friend of the late Alexander Litvinenko, a Russian defector whose life has sparked a documentary and book to be released. Nekrasov made a film about the murder Poisoned by Polonium: The Litvinenko File (2007), while Johnny Depp is reported to be in the fight for the rights to make a movie based on a book about his life and death.
- Protested against the arrest of Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, detained on 1 March 2010 and held in ward 209 of the Evin prison.
