She was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to drama and charity in Northern Ireland in the 2006 Queen's New Years' Honours List.

Residing in Larne, off the coast of Northern Ireland filming episodes of 'Give my Head Peace'.
