- One of the main minds behind Sonic the Hedgehog, along with character designer Naoto Ohshima, and designer Hirokazu Yasuhara.
- After working on Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), he had intended to leave Sega but was convinced to stay and come work with Sega Technical Institute in California by Shinobu Toyoda.
- In 2022, Naka Tweeted out an old photo of his development team of Nights Into Dreams... (1996) but with Naoto Ohshima conspicuously scratched out of the photo.
