Biography

Miranda Myrat was a Greek actress and a prominent figure in Greek theater and cinema. She was the daughter of actors Mitsos Myrat and Kyveli and began her stage career in 1919 with the Marika Kotopouli theater company. After studying at the Sevigne College in Paris from 1921 to 1923, she returned to Greece and worked with her mother's company before joining the National Theatre in 1932, where she remained a leading actress until 1938. She subsequently collaborated with Kotopouli and established her own theater companies, including one formed with Kostas Mousouris, Kiriakos Mavreas, and Orestis Makris. Among her notable stage successes were "To meltemaki", "Despoinis dikigoros", and Luigi Pirandello's "The Pleasure of Honesty". Myrat also worked extensively in radio, where her education, diction, and distinctive voice made her particularly suited to poetry recitations and literary readings. She appeared in more than 40 films and also had roles in several television series.
