Sallee Louise Wilson didn't get farther than the chorus perhaps because of her age, as she was already a divorcee in her 30s with a daughter when she started. She did however get some iconic roles like one of the twelve models in the 'Beautiful Girl' segment in Singin in the Rain (1952) and one of Marilyn Monroe's colleagues in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953). She began modeling with products like Designs of California, Hemisphere Highlights, and Servel Appliances before getting a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer who immediately cast her in musicals because she was attractive but not to the extent where she would upstage anyone. It was a benefit and a curse as it got her steady work as a 'showgirl', but she'd never achieve the status of a star or even a starlet.

Sally and several starlets at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer did an interview that year with James Bacon where they discussed their lives, careers, and ambitions, with Sally quipping that her ambition was "to eat regularly". It was clear by her statement that she didn't consider this a long-term career, but rather something to pay her bills. She continued doing chorus work in movies like Paris Model (1954) and The Opposite Sex (1956) until musicals lost their popularity as did she. Sally worked as a hairdresser for years and eventually managed a salon in Glendale, California that catered to the most elite of stars in Hollywood.
