Biography

Muscha, or Jürgen Muschalek, born September 28, 1951, in Düsseldorf, Germany, was a director, producer, writer, artist, and musician. He was brought up in the punk scene of Düsseldorf. Collaborating with his long time friend and musician Klaus-Peter "Trini" Trimpop. They wrote and directed the new wave avant garde film "Humanes Töten" (Humane Killing) in 1980. Muscha moved to Berlin, made friends with the world famous group Einstürzende Neubauten and the film producer/writer Klaus Maeck. This resulted in his second feature film, the cult classic "Decoder" (1984). A techno anarchist mix inspired by William S. Burroughs's "The Electronic Revolution" (1970) and Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville (1965). Jürgen "Muscha" Muschalek ended his life on July 21, 2003, in Düsseldorf, Germany.
