- Foday Musa Suso was born on February 18, 1950 in Sarre Hamadi, Gambia Colony and Protectorate [now Gambia]. He was a composer, known for Live Nude Girls Unite! (2000), Magicians of the Earth: Senis Children (1992) and Open Space (1983). He died on May 25, 2025 in Brikama, Gambia.
- Founded the Mandigo Griot Society.
- Contributed to music for the Olympic Games in 1984 and 2004.
- Performed with Bill Laswell, Philip Glass, Pharoah Sanders, Jack DeJohnette, Ginger Baker, Paul Simon, Yousif Sheronick and the Kronos Quartet (Pieces of Africa).
