John Mowod

Raised around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, John Mowod built a career split between regional entertainment, hospitality, and the local arts scene. Audiences might recognize him from early on-screen appearances in 1980s and 90s cult horror flicks like FleshEater and Santa Claws, as well as a small spot in the drama Lorenzo's Oil. He eventually moved behind the camera to write and produce, co-writing the 2009 sports drama Amazing Racer alongside local radio host Larry Richert, as well as serving as president of the Pittsburgh Jazz Society. In late 2025, Mowod's public life took a sharp turn when he was sentenced to 7.5 to 15 years in a state prison following an August 2025 guilty plea to attempted homicide and stalking charges related to a domestic assault against his wife in 2022.
