Rita Mousouri(1906-1985)

Rita Mousouri was a Greek stage and screen actress who built a long career through theatre and supporting film roles, becoming a familiar presence in mid-20th-century Greek performance culture. She first appeared on stage in the late 1920s, quickly entering professional theatre through companies associated with Marika Kotopouli. Early exposure to touring productions helped shape her practical, disciplined acting style, which later translated effectively into character roles on screen. She also trained at the Theatre of Art under Karolos Koun, an experience that strengthened her theatrical range and connection to modern Greek stage practice. From the post-war years onward, she worked steadily in repertory theatre alongside leading performers such as Dimitris Horn and Mimis Fotopoulos, establishing herself as a reliable ensemble actress. In cinema, she appeared mainly in supporting roles in popular films including My Sister Deserves a Beating (1966), Egoismos (1964), and Anthismeni amygdalia (1959), where she contributed grounded, naturalistic performances that reinforced the films' everyday tone.
