Bryan Mosley(1931-1999)

An only child whose father was a dyer's laborer, he performed in musical revues put on by a Methodist church and did his national service in the RAF. After leaving the RAF, he trained for the theatre with Esme Church at the Northern Theatre School between 1951 and 1952. He supplemented his acting by teaching drama and selling encyclopedias. He became an expert swordsman to such an extent that he arranges fights for stage, film and television and is a founder member of the British Fight Arrangers. He was the first actor to be given a special citation as a performer by American TV Radio Commercials Festival (1969). He first played Alf Roberts in Coronation Street in 1961. Married to Norma, he had three sons and three daughters: Jonathan, Bernard and Leonard and Jacqueline, Simone and Helen.
