Mihalis Mosios(1947-2026)

Michalis Mosios was a Greek actor of theater and cinema. He trained at the Drama School of Kyriazis Charatsaris and began his career in Thessaloniki, performing with the State Theatre of Northern Greece. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, he appeared in classical repertoire including works by Aristophanes, Aeschylus, Sophocles, William Shakespeare, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and August Strindberg, among others. He subsequently moved to Athens, where he continued his theater work. At the Piraeus Municipal Theatre, he performed in 'Richard III' alongside Dimitris Horn, and later in 'Papadopoulos kai Sia' and 'I hartopaihtra'. He also appeared at the Modern Theatre in 'Ta patatakia' by Arnold Wesker, and toured nationally in 'O seihis tis Kavalas' with Rena Vlahopoulou. Mosios appeared in over five television series for ERT and YENED, and starred in nine Greek feature films, with additional work released on videotape. He is best remembered for creating the spontaneous and satirical character of Tamtakos, a Romani figure that became his signature role and endeared him to audiences across Greece. The character's popularity carried over from the stage to the screen through a series of films.
