Trivia

  • During Chris Morris' radio career he is thought to have filled the newsreader's booth with helium, introduced a news flash about a train crash by saying "Tell me your favourite joke" and given running commentries over serious news bulletins, each time resulting in sackings.
  • Following the end of the Brass Eye (1997) series, he placed his own obituary in The Guardian newspaper. The final words were: "After his glorious student years at Bristol he went on to a varied broadcasting career before consumption ailed his later years. A good friend, he will be sorely missed".
  • Although known as a "media terrorist", Chris is actually one of the shyest people in comedy, hardly ever doing interviews. During his only appearance on a show with a studio audience, "Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge", he was asked by co-star Steve Coogan if he had anything to say to the audience. He said no and quickly went backstage.
  • He has just finished shooting a new series built around the character Nathan Barley, with Charlie Brooker. The series, with the working title 'Box of Slice,' is rumoured to be a satirical assault on the 'trendy Hoxton types' and will be shown on Channel 4 in the near future.
  • He lives with and has 2 children by the actress Jo Unwin

Quotes

  • If a terrorist organisation wanted to knock out the moral compass of Britain, all they'd have to do is to kill 100 celebrities at random. The entire country would have an instant nervous breakdown.
  • Stress is a disease and I am the cure.
  • And so Thank Christ for Wolf the Gladiator...
