She gave up acting when she married George Cole in 1966 and had a son, Toby, born 1941, and a daughter, Tara, born 1969. She got a taste for acting again when she played a dragon landlady who fancied 'Arfur' in Minder. She then played Ellie Butler in a children's TV serial, Running Scared. From 1979, she operated Mrs Cole's Music Hall, which she produced at The Mill at Sonning in Berkshire each Xmas season and which started as a charity venture.
