Richard Morant was born on October 30, 1945 in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Jack the Ripper (1988), Poldark (1975) and The Last Place on Earth (1985). He was married to Valerie Buchanan and Melissa Louise Fairbanks. He died on November 9, 2011 in Richmond, Surrey, England, UK.

Nephew of actor Bill Travers and actress Linden Travers, cousin of actress Penelope Wilton and Lindy Wilton. Son-in-law of actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr. by his first marriage to Melissa Fairbanks.

In addition to his acting career, he was proprietor of Richard Morant Commissioned Carpets and Design, a London gallery, specialising in bespoke carpets and rugs.

Father of four children.

Son of Philip Morant.
