Overview

  • Birth name
    Joseph Brice Moore Jr.

Biography

  • Well-known in Hawaii as the state's most-watched television newscaster, Joe Moore anchors weekday newscasts for KHON TV (formerly an NBC affiliate, now a FOX affiliate). Moore has been a familiar face on Hawaii television since 1969, when he returned to the islands following two tours of duty in Vietnam as an Army journalist with the 25th Infantry Division and as a newscaster with the American Forces Vietnam Network in Saigon.

He has acted in several motion pictures, including starring roles in the independent films Goodbye Paradise (1991) and Moonglow (2000). Moore has also guest-starred in a number of Hawaii-based television series, including Hawaii Five-O (1968), Tour of Duty (1987), Magnum, P.I. (1980), Jake and the Fatman (1987), and One West Waikiki (1994). Recently, most of his acting has been on stage, co-starring with his longtime friend Pat Sajak in The Odd Couple by Neil Simon (in 2001) and The Honeymooners (in 2004). Moore has also written and starred in a wide variety of plays, including Will Rogers Returns; John Wayne: The Man Behind the Legend; A Conversation with Mozart; The Buck Stops Where? (a political satire about what goes on in the Oval Office); The Heydrich Covenant (a factual account of how a group of Nazi's formulated "the final solution"); Prophecy and Honor (about aviation pioneer Billy Mitchell); and Dirty Laundry (a behind-the-scenes look at the TV news business).
