Biography

Clare Lawrence Moody is a British actress and producer whose career spans theatre, television, and film. Born in Yorkshire, the daughter of television director Laurence Moody, she began acting as a teenager in BBC dramas before earning a First-Class degree in English from Cambridge University.

Her early screen work includes the BBC film This Could Be the Last Time, Charles Sturridge's Longitude, and as Amanda Hunt in the long-running drama Bad Girls. In 2000 she co-founded the West End theatre company Out of the Blue with producer and screenwriter Anna Waterhouse, producing a series of acclaimed plays including Kenneth Lonergan's This Is Our Youth (Garrick Theatre) with casts led by Jake Gyllenhaal, Hayden Christensen, Kieran Culkin, Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, and Casey Affleck; David Mamet's Oleanna starring Julia Stiles and Aaron Eckhart; A Life in the Theatre with Patrick Stewart and Joshua Jackson, Some Girls with David Schwimmer and Lesley Manville, and Fool for Love with Juliette Lewis.

Following a return to acting in 2008 in Fram at the Royal National Theatre, Lawrence Moody has appeared in numerous stage productions in London and the West End, as well as screen work including Pride and a wide range of British television drama.
