Trivia

Sarah Monahan

  • In March of 2010, she went public with allegations of abuse while working on Hey Dad..! (1987). After speaking out, and being credited with giving the courage to so many other victims of abuse to come forward, Sarah was asked to be an ambassador for Australia's leading child protection advocacy group, Bravehearts.
  • In early 1993, Sarah left the Australian sitcom Hey Dad..! (1987) to travel to Honduras as part of a student-exchange program. The storyline explaining her character Jenny's departure from the show was that she was moving out of the house to attend boarding school.
  • Her father was a fashion designer. Sarah got her start by modelling his clothing. By the time Hey Dad..! started, she had already been in over 100 television and print commercials.
  • Attended the Travel Channel Academy in Washington DC.
  • Lived in San Antonio, Texas for several years, until moving to Palm Beach, Florida in early 2016.
  • Wrote a memoir, titled Allegedly, which was released in March of 2016.
  • She doesn't believe actors are any more special than regular people, and likes to keep herself grounded by doing crew work, or occasionally doing extra, or stand-in work. She spent 12 days as a stand-in for Logan Lerman on the Austin set of Jack & Bobby (2004). She also donated her time for local filmmaker Kelley Scollard by creating and hosting the website for Craving Heathers, in which she was also originally cast as Kamala.
  • Speaks fluent Spanish.
  • Sarah's father Brian was business partners with Supermodel DJ Sky Nellor's father. The two also attended the same private school in Sydney.
  • Attended Meriden School and Strathfield Girls High School, both in Strathfield, New South Wales.
  • Joined the Texas State Guard in 2011.
  • Taught acting classes and workshops for children in the United States.
  • Currently lives in the USA.
  • As a child, had ambitions of becoming an astronaut.
