John Mollo was born on 18 March 1931 in Lambeth, London, England, UK. He was a costume designer, known for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), Alien (1979) and Gandhi (1982). He was married to Louise Alexandra Mary Pongracz and Ann Mollo. He died on 25 October 2017.

Created Darth Vader&#39;s image as a result of his expertise in World War I trench armour and Nazi helmets.

Elder brother of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0597081/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Andrew Mollo</a>.

From early on, he had a long-standing interest in European and American military uniforms and wrote several books on the subject.

He got an Oscar for Best Costume Design which he shared with Bhanu Athaiya.
