  • Dearbhla Molloy was born in Ireland and educated through the medium of Irish and English. Her career began with Irish-speaking plays with the Abbey Theatre Dublin. She went on to join the RSC ( London Critic's Award Juno & The Paycock) playing Mary to Judi Dench's Juno among other parts. She has done several plays on Broadway, including Dancing at Lughnasa (Tony Award nomination). Attendance at the awards ceremony involved an overnight dash to New York returning on Concorde to make curtain up for her performance in What The Butler Saw in the Lyric Hammersmith. Other Broadway appearances include Touch of the Poet, Outside Mullingar and The Ferryman. She was nominated for an Olivier Award for The Ferryman in London's Gielgud Theatre. West End productions include Gertrude to Ken Branagh's Hamlet at the Phoenix Theatre, In Celebration with Orlando Bloom at the Duke of York's, the NT production of Arcadia at the Haymarket Theatre, and most recently Uncle Vanya at the Harold Pinter. In a very varied career covering almost sixty years to date, she has worked extensively in the UK, the US and Ireland, in Theatre and TV and more recently film, gaining a comprehensive list of awards and nominations on the way. She lives in London near her son Rory, with trips back to Ireland as often as possible.
