Biography

  • Lyubomir Mladenov was born in Svishtov, in 1972. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts, Sofia in 1990. In 1990 Lyubomir Mladenov started studying film directing at National Academy for Theatre and Film Art in the classes of Georgi Djulgerov and Svetoslav Ovtcharov. During his studies he shot 4 shorts that were selected for the film festivals in Munich, Gyor, Cottbus, Angers, Clermond-Ferrand, Kiev. He served his time as a conscript at the Military Audiovisual Centre in Sofia as cameraman and editor of films about the Army. He worked as an art director in theatre, director and cinematographer in TV and he shot music videos. His short film 34 received the Best Balkan film prize at the first film festival FILMINI. In 2000-2002 he was the director of a documentary series for the BNT, "One Day of....". Meanwhile, he made a number of music videos and was the set designer of four theatre productions; he has also made shorts and documentaries as well as a feature film, Hunting Park. He is at post production stage of his new movie "A Ship in the Room".
