Fonce Mizell was born on 15 January 1943 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a composer, known for Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), The Italian Job (2003) and The Great Gatsby (2013). He died on 5 July 2011 in Beverly Hills, California, USA.

He majored in music at Howard University in Washington D.C. where he earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree.

He is survived by his brother, Larry Mizell and Rodney Mizell.
