Recently, a staff writer in BET+'s "All the Queen's Men," Monice won a Telly Award as the writer, showrunner, executive producer of the documentary series, "Discovering West Africa with World Wide Nate," for Wondrium.
Monice also adapted the film, "Redeemed," to the screen for BET+ and Apple TV+. She wrote, produced and directed the short films, "Carmin's Choice" and "Rain," for Showtime, and she co-wrote-produced the independent documentary, "Two Classes of 1968."
Monice has authored seven books, including her children's tale, "Nana's Fridge," and her historical fiction novel, "Address: House of Corrections," is also a fan favorite audio drama on Apple scripted podcasts.
A native daughter of Detroit, Monice holds a BA in journalism from Wayne State University, a MFA in film from Columbia College Chicago and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology.
Constantly creating, Monice has a slate of original and adapted projects in development. She is the creator-host of the storytellers poducuseries, "Works-N-Progress," which recently won the 2025 w3 GOLD award for "Best use of Writing" in Podcasting and two Telly Awards for Online Series: Arts & Culture and Series Interview & Talk Show in 2026.
And she has expanded into the vertical micro series space as a recent graduate of the inaugural TikTok-Sundance "From Script to Screens: Writing Your Micro-Series" course.
