Biography

Brigitte Mira was born on April 20, 1910 in Hamburg, Germany. She was an actress, known for Fear Eats the Soul (1974), Mother Kusters Goes to Heaven (1975) and A Clockwork Orange (1971). She was married to Frank Guarente, Paul Cornelius, Peter Schütte, Horst Fabian and Reinhold Tabatt. She died on March 8, 2005 in Berlin, Germany.

German actress and singer, an embodiment of "Berliner Schnauze". On stage in Cologne from 1929. Her early career encompassed ballet and cabaret, as well as film operettas and lightweight comedies. She only made her mark in the early 70's as a dramatic actress in nine films directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Towards the end of her career was regarded as a national treasure.

Her father was a Russian pianist who emigrated to Germany, her mother was German.

Married five times.

Began her career as a ballet dancer and cabarest artist. In the 70s, her movie and television roles made her very popular.

Was awarded the Cross of Merit, 1. Class (Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse) in 1981. This was upgraded in 1995 to the Great Cross of Merit (Großes Verdienstkreuz).
