In 1971 Muriel directed Michael Spound as the Major General in G&S's "Pirates of Penzance", at the Fenn School in Concord, MA, In 1975, she directed a production of "The Mikado" starring Steve Carell in the title role, at the same school. (he was not yet 13). In 1978 she directed Michael Bay as Frederick (age 13) in "Pirates of Penzance", when he was a student at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, CA.
