Biography

Jean-Roger Milo was born on June 5, 1957 in Paris, France. He was an actor and writer, known for Germinal (1993), Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar (1999) and Dog Day (1984). He died on October 12, 2023 in Paris, France.

After learning his craft at the theatre with Sacha Pitoëff, Jean-Roger Milo was noticed by the cinema.

Milo worked with renowned directors like Bertrand Tavernier in films like A Sunday in the Country (1984) and The Life And Nothing Other (1989).

He appeared in the 1982 movie Ace of Aces alongside Jean-Paul Belmondo.

He played a leading role in the TV-movie Les Sagards by Dominique Ladoge who confides: "I wrote Les Sagards for him and we spent weeks in the Forez mountains to draw the character of Abel Vagney, touch by touch. In my filmography, there was a before and after Jean-Roger. I have never found such an investment nor such a requirement". Subsequently, Jean-Roger Milo retired from cinema to live in the mountains. Gustave Kervern and Benoît Delépine tried to get him back on the screens in 2014 by giving him the main role in the film Near Death Experience but their contacts were unsuccessful.

In 1993, he was nominated for a César Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Chaval in the film Germinal.
