Biography

Merle Miller was born on May 17, 1919 in Montour, Iowa, USA. He was a writer, known for The Rains of Ranchipur (1955), Kings Go Forth (1958) and Playhouse 90 (1956). He died on June 10, 1986 in Danbury, Connecticut, USA.

He was the author of a famous book about President Harry Truman, first published in 1972, a year after Truman's death. However, some sections of the book were claimed by others to be fabrications, and certain remarks attributed to Truman were said to have been invented by Miller, something he denied.

He first attracted attention as a novelist in the years following World War II, moving from these into writing for films and television. However, he claimed to have been blacklisted for a time in the mid-1950s.
