Biography

Stephen Mitchell is known for Terminal Velocity (1984), Exigence (2017) and Point of Departure (2005).

When Michel Hugo, the DP on the TV series Mission: Impossible, learned that Stephen owned a Ferrari 250GTO racing car, he did his best to convince Stephen to purchase a Citroën DS automobile (Michel and his wife each had one) claiming it was the best car in the world.

Film and television director Paul Stanley was Stephen's mentor and issued a standing invitation for Stephen to be on set whenever he was working on such shows as Mission: Impossible, The Road West, Medical Center, T.H.E. Cat and others.

Jay Sebring became Stephen's barber after a referral from the actor Robert Phillips (The Dirty Dozen, The Killers) on the set of Mission: Impossible.

Stephen judged the Best Directing in a Comedy Series for the CableACE Awards for nine years.
