Victor Mignatti

Biography

  • Victor Mignatti directs feel-good commercials, comedic spots, feature films and music videos as well as documentaries noted for an honest cinema-verite style coupled with intimate and compelling interviews and testimonials. He brings to his work a solid post-production background as an editor in a variety of genres.

In the realm of comedy, Mignatti received a Grammy Award nomination as director of R. Kelly's "Trapped In The Closet 13-22." This outrageous music video "hip-hopera," which the New York Times called "extraordinarily entertaining," was the Billboard #1 Platinum music video DVD for 5 weeks straight. Mignatti wrote and directed the Outfest audience award-winning feature romantic comedy "Broadway Damage" which critic Rex Reed called, "One of the best American Independent films in years." His 2012 release, the feature documentary "This Time," is a music-driven portrait of six recording artists including Elvis Presley back-up singers, The Sweet Inspirations.

Broadcast advertising and web work includes spots for Bloomberg, Estee Lauder, Macy's, Major League Soccer, Hastens, CustomInk, IDB Bank, Kiss Nails, People's Choice Awards, History Channel, ION TV, Clearasil, Florida Lottery and Life-Savers. Music videos include projects for Italian label Apogeo Records recording artists Andrea De Rosa and Ben Slavin.

Other work includes the award winning films "ACLU: 75th Anniversary," celebrating the 75th year of the American Civil Liberties Union and "GMHC: A Portrait," a look at the fabled AIDS service agency and the People's Choice Award nominated MTV's "The Real World New Orleans."

The work is in the permanent collections of the UCLA Film and Television Archive, The Paley Center for Media and the Museum of the City of New York. He studied film at New York University and acting at Circle in the Square.
